Although often part of the ground workers package, specialised underground water mains work can be under taken by ourselves, using materials such as Fusion Weld HDPE, Copper and sometimes Cast Iron.

On completion, the mains are pressure tested and chlorinated to ensure there is no need to disturb the works at a later date and the water is safe for drinking purposes.

A certificate of Chlorination is produced once the water samples have been tested by our laboratories.

Boosted Water Systems are used mainly in high rise developments to both store and pump water. As a general rule, water companies only deliver enough pressure to supply dwellings of 3 floors in height. Therefore, a system must be implemented to pump the water as high as required.

The systems we recommend depend on the height and complexity of the building. Boosted packages and break tanks vary enormously and can be designed to serve one dwelling or hundreds. Each project is looked at carefully to consider the implications of housing the units and routing pipework in the most efficient manner.

Much of Woodford Heating’s past experience has been in high rise residential dwellings, all of which require this type of technology to ensure that portable water, hot and cold supplies are faultlessly delivered.

Thankfully, Cast Iron Drainage has kept its standards over the years. Therefore, the integration between new and old systems of above and below ground drainage systems are easy to implement.

Most high rise developments require Dry Risers to comply with building and fire regulations.

These are installed providing Inlet boxes externally for connection by the Fire Brigade and Outlet boxes on every floor, giving the Fire Services flexibility in their approach to fire fighting.

Soil & waste systems are generally installed in PVCu pipework, although other alternatives such as HDPE or cast iron are available when required.

In some cases HDPE is preferred due to the strength, impact and abrasion resistance the product offers over PVCu. We are now using more of this product in basement area’s, which would normally have been installed in more traditional cast Iron. Being a fusion weld system means that it is more robust as the joints are not liable to expansion issues that may occur with a rubber sealed timesaver or PVCu joint.

On completion all the works are tested and signed off by Building Control or the NHBC.

Gas Certificates

Gas appliances supplied by the landlord in tenanted accommodation are, by law, required to be tested and certified on an annual basis. Woodford Heating can complete all the safety checks and will accurately record the findings on the Landlord/Homeowner Gas Safety Record, providing copy certificates to the tenant, landlord & agent.

Under floor heating systems provide very gentle air circulation, whereby the amount of travelling dust particles is reduced considerably and is therefore perfect for allergy sufferers.

This invisible type of heating imparts a very pleasant type of warmth that is very comfortable to your feet in particular, but is good at distributing the warmth to give a cosy ambience in your home or office. It is equally popular as it provides more space for furniture or decoration without bulky radiators.

Finally, these types of systems are known to be more energy efficient where you use around 15% less energy than a conventional heating system.

Our rainwater systems ensure that gravity does its job through guttering down pipes, balcony outlets and flat room drainage where applicable.

Domestic

All our domestic gas works up to 28 mm are compliant with Gas Safe Register standards and installed by a Corgi qualified engineer.

Commercial

We install gas pipe work above 28 mm into multiple dwellings, schools and hotels where there is a central boiler system. All our engineers are Gas Safe Register trained and registered.

All our gas appliances are commissioned in accordance with the manufacturer‘s instructions and regulations. This involves pressure tests, the control of the hot water temperature, heating flow and return temperature. We ensure that the boiler is set up correctly and will remain fully functional.

Where necessary, we provide extract ventilation in bathrooms and kitchens using appropriate ventilation ducts and air bricks.
